Tinder is trialling a new ID and image verification attribute in Australia and New Zealand. The new approach encourages customers to submit a video clip selfie and a legitimate ID document, followed by additional photograph verification.

Tinder announced that this trial will target on date of beginning and likeness checks as safety enhancements. 

Buyers are asked to post a video clip selfie and a valid Driver’s License or Passport. From there, the dating system will look at that the video clip selfie matches the photo from the ID and the photographs on the user’s profile.

The system will also examine the day of beginning on the ID with that on the user’s profile.

In exchange for completing this new method, photo verified users will receive a blue camera badge on their profiles, although ID confirmed users get a blue ID verification badge. Buyers who do both of those will get a blue checkmark.

Tinder shared that “we plan to choose the learnings from this pilot as we examine expanding this characteristic out to other areas in the future”.

Tinder Australia’s local NGO husband or wife, WESNET welcomed the pilot of ID Verification. WESNET CEO Karen Bentley claimed:

“We welcome this examination and hope the pilot of the ID + Image Verification approach will assist confirm that prospective matches are true as perfectly as deter individuals thinking about misusing the dating app”.
